The app for health anxiety

Tools for when the fear of MS takes over

Tingling, a vision change, fatigue or an unsteady moment can feel frightening. Condri helps you seek appropriate medical advice and notice when repeated self-testing is taking over. It cannot tell you whether a symptom is MS.

When separate experiences start to feel connected

Worry about multiple sclerosis (MS) may draw your attention to sensations you noticed at different times. You might connect tingling, tiredness and a moment of clumsiness, then repeatedly test your balance or search for a matching story. This is an understandable effort to feel safe.

For some people, a check brings brief relief before another doubt appears. Condri helps you recognise that cycle while treating the cause of any physical symptom as a medical question for a qualified professional.

When to seek medical help

See a GP if you think you have symptoms of MS, including a new or unexplained change in sensation, vision, balance or movement, or fatigue that concerns you. Many symptoms have several possible causes; a GP can consider your circumstances and advise whether specialist assessment is needed.

Call 999 or go to A&E if you suddenly develop weakness or numbness in one arm, loss or blurring of vision, or problems with balance and coordination. These may be signs of a stroke. If you think you are having or have had a stroke, call 999 now, even if the symptoms have stopped. Do not drive yourself to A&E. If you suddenly cannot see from one or both eyes, or have sudden severe eye pain, go to A&E or call 999. Condri cannot assess neurological or visual symptoms, diagnose MS or decide whether you need a scan. Continue prescribed treatment and any monitoring or follow-up recommended by your healthcare team. See what the evidence says about treatment for the anxiety pattern itself.

Here to help

Support when you feel driven to test again

A mindful pause can help you notice fear and decide how to respond. It is not a way to establish that a symptom is harmless and must not delay urgent or recommended care.

Panic button

A brief guided pause when fear and the urge to check feel strong. Notice what you experienced and what your mind predicts, then take the medically appropriate step or follow an agreed plan.

Daily Condri practice

Short exercises to recognise repeated self-testing, symptom searching and reassurance seeking while responding to yourself with less judgement.

Members community

Support around health anxiety without asking others to compare symptoms, interpret scans or decide whether medical assessment is needed.

Interrupt the spiral

From “what if this is MS?” to a considered response

Use it in the moment

Use this sequence for the urge to repeat a familiar check. It does not replace assessment of a new, changing or concerning symptom.

  1. Describe what happened

Use a short observation, such as “My hand tingled” or “I stumbled.” You do not need to decide what caused it before asking for advice.

  2. Notice the feared explanation and urge

Your mind may connect this moment with earlier experiences and demand a balance, strength or vision test. These urges are understandable. An informal test cannot diagnose MS.

  3. Choose the medical step

Follow the emergency guidance above where it applies. Otherwise, discuss concerning symptoms with a GP. If you have already been assessed, follow your clinician’s advice and seek further help for a relevant new or worsening change.

  4. Return attention to something meaningful

After taking the needed step, you can return to a conversation, rest or an activity that matters, even with some uncertainty present. This is compatible with following medical care, not a test of whether a symptom is safe.

Built with understanding

Take symptoms seriously without assessing yourself all day

Condri is a health anxiety self-help app shaped by lived experience. Its tools draw on CBT, exposure and response prevention, acceptance-based practices, mindfulness and compassion-focused ideas. They may help you reduce repetitive body comparisons, self-tests, online searching and reassurance seeking while continuing appropriate healthcare.

The aim is more choice in your response, not perfect certainty. Condri does not diagnose or treat MS, perform neurological examinations, interpret scans or recommend investigations. It can be used alongside advice and treatment from a GP or neurological team.

Common questions about MS fears and health anxiety

Why do tingling and numbness make me fear MS?

These sensations appear in MS information, which can make them frightening. Repeatedly touching or comparing the area cannot tell you what caused them. See a GP if you think you may have MS symptoms or a change concerns you. Use emergency guidance for sudden stroke-like symptoms.

Can anxiety cause sensations that feel neurological?

Anxiety may be accompanied by physical sensations and changes in concentration. That does not establish the cause of an individual symptom. Condri supports the fear and checking around a symptom while a qualified professional considers any medical concern.

Why do I keep testing my balance, strength or vision?

Self-tests may promise a quick answer but cannot reproduce a clinical assessment. Slight differences may invite another test. Seek appropriate medical advice for symptoms that concern you and practise reducing tests used solely to relieve repeated doubt.

Why do I compare the two sides of my body?

When you fear a neurological condition, even small differences may seem important. An informal comparison cannot diagnose MS or explain a particular difference. Discuss a concerning change with a GP; seek emergency help for sudden one-sided weakness or numbness that may suggest stroke.

How is MS diagnosed?

A GP may refer someone with possible MS symptoms to a neurologist. There is no single test. Assessment can include a history, examination and, when appropriate, MRI and other investigations. Condri cannot decide whether a referral is needed or interpret findings.

What if I still worry after an examination or scan?

Follow the clinician’s explanation and follow-up plan. Seek further advice if directed or if a relevant symptom develops or worsens. When doubt returns without new information, Condri can help you notice whether repeated searches or tests are attempts to remove uncertainty.

Why do symptoms seem to move or change?

The location and intensity of sensations can vary for many reasons. Neither an online pattern search nor an app can explain a particular change. Speak to a GP about symptoms you think could be MS or that concern you; note details only if they help with an agreed medical purpose.

Should I keep a symptom diary?

A brief record may help an appointment or a clinician-directed plan. If writing down every sensation and rereading entries repeatedly increases worry, discuss a simpler approach with your clinician or therapist. A diary should support a medical decision, not become continuous surveillance.

How can I reduce searching for early signs of MS?

If you have a concern, seek appropriate professional guidance. Once you have a plan, notice when another search is a bid for certainty about the same question. Practise pausing and allowing the urge to pass rather than adding more symptoms to monitor.

Why do fatigue and difficulty concentrating worry me?

Both can feel significant when MS is on your mind, but they have many possible explanations. An app cannot determine the cause. See a GP if fatigue or cognitive changes are persistent, unexplained, affect daily life or otherwise concern you.

What if a relative has MS?

Family history may make the fear feel more immediate and may be relevant to a discussion with your GP. Condri cannot calculate individual risk. It can help with repeated comparisons to your relative’s experience and worry around an agreed medical plan.

Can Condri tell me whether my symptoms indicate MS?

No. Condri cannot assess neurological symptoms, calculate your likelihood of MS, decide on investigations or interpret scans. It offers self-help for health anxiety patterns alongside professional care.

Is Condri a treatment for MS?

No. It does not prevent or treat MS or replace medication, rehabilitation or the advice of an MS team. Someone living with MS may also want support with anxiety, but medical management remains with their healthcare professionals.

Does the health anxiety quiz diagnose MS?

No. The quiz is for reflection on health anxiety patterns. It cannot assess neurological function, diagnose MS or explain a physical symptom.
